ABOUT

The Journey of Ashton Ebert

Welcome to my website! I am Ashton Ebert, a performer, dancer, and creator. I always have had a passion for dance but my road to finding dance was very atypical. Explore below all the different roads and curves that lead me to be where I am today!

The Start

Even though I started dancing later in life, I have been technically dancing since I was a little kid. My sisters and I would perform many "concerts" for anyone who wanted to see it. My family saw my passion and decided to enroll me in gymnastics, which eventually led me to the world of dance.

Gymnastics

After seeing many of my mini shows that I would put on my parents decided to enroll me in gymnastics. I did gymnastics for about 8 years. I moved on because I wanted to do the floor routines with music (like the girls did) which at the time did not know meant dancing. I would watch them in awe and wanted to be them as they danced gracefully in their routines. I would even begin my choreographic journey by creating gymnastics routines in my living room.

Cheer

The next part of the adventure was cheerleading. I tried out for the cheer team in Junior High School and was the first boy to make the squad. After Junior High, we moved to Houston Texas. I continued to do cheer and made the team during my freshman and sophomore year in high school. I loved to cheer. It had what I wanted but realized I was still not satisfied. My sophomore year changed because it was more focused on stunting then dancing. That is when I knew it was time to move to try to find my passion.

Musical Theatre

In my Junior year of high school, I was cast as Romeo in Newsies. This was a life-changing moment for me because I finally figured out what I was passionate about; performing and dancing. I am grateful for my High School Director and the Choreographer because they saw the passion inside of me and helped me find a studio to start training at to help continue my dream.

Vitacca Ballet

In my senior year of high school, I trained at Vitacca Ballet, seven days a week. While I was training I was also auditioning for colleges to continue my training in dance. Two days before I was supposed to audition for Oklahoma City University the Shutdown Notice occurred and ended up filming my audition in my garage, on the grass, and in a restaurant. A few days later I got the email saying I was accepted into the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment at Oklahoma City University and I accepted with a big smile on my face! It was a wonderful moment for me because it meant I could continue training to improve my technique and become a stronger dancer!

Oklahoma City University

I am now a Junior Dance Performance Major here at Oklahoma City University - Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. I am graduating in the Spring of 2024 and soaking it all in. I have made many wonderful friends and am grateful to be doing what I love every day! After the long road of finding my passion, I cannot wait to see where it will lead me to next!
